Trickster Sister

As many of you know, I never send more than 4 newsletters a year.  If you have been counting, this is my THIRD for the year--my second in two months--because there is  SO much going on!  Please read on for more news and upcoming shows!

RINGS AROUND SATURN - July Launch Was a Success!

The Release Show: I am so grateful for the support from so many as I launched my debut solo album in July.  The album release show at the Philadelphia Folksong Society was over-the-top, thanks to my amazing band (Jane and Donna my Trickster Sisters plus guest musicians Jim Salamone, Peter Farrell and Tom Hampton; as well as my back-up singers Meghan Cary, Lisa Jeanette, Irene Lambrou and Mara Levine) as well as PFS stalwarts Justin Nordell and Ashley Lehman who ensured the show went off without a hitch (even though we had 9 performers crammed on stage).

Airplay:  On other fronts, over 40 public radio  and internet stations have played tracks from the album and I'm especially grateful to have been invited to talk about the album on a half dozen or so radio programs (thanks to Artie Martello, Joe Pzonek, John Sillberg, Jim Sereda, Ron Olesko & Friedrich Hogg).

Reviews: Perhaps most gratifying has been some of the very complimentary reviews the album has received and in particular two tracks -  'Thoughts and Prayers' and 'Rings Around Saturn'. See my website page 'Radio & Reviews' for more details. There is a free download of a track from the album included at the end of this email.

Its been a really fun few weeks and especially last weekend, which I spent making new friends and lots of music at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.  Why I waited until this point in life to discover this gem of a festival I will never know; already counting down days till next year's festival.  Special thanks to Janice Brill for this photo that captures how I felt, while playing one of many fun showcases over the weekend.  (And on that note, I am so grateful to the hospitality of so many including Stuart Kabek and the Pirate Camp Crew, Gordon Nash and the Budgiedome; Richard Cucarro of Acoustic Live; the welcoming folk of Tri-State Folk Concert Presenters; and Crystal Huff who among many talents, puts on the FRFF Lost and Found Stage).  And I'd be remiss if I didn't also thank Meghan Cary and Peter Farrell  and their kids Clara and Quinn (who also host a wonderful showcase) for making room for me in the camper and in their lives!  Who knew we could have so much fun and still make music in a monsoon rain storm??  All the best    – Marion

PS -Special thanks to my friend Jen Corry for the sweet picture at the top of this newsletter!
